MSgt. Ralph Hoff, the Sergeant of Swing, displays his versitality by blowing hot on a Bavarian trumpet in a jam session with a Lagerlechfeld innkeeper and his wife. Sgt. Hoff, who plays a trumpet in bands back home, said he had little difficulty adjusting to the unfamiliar architecture of the Bavarian instrument and proved it by playing several nights at the innkeeper's gasthaus to appreciative German and American audiences. Said Sgt. Hoff proudly, the German base commander saw me and stopped his car to tell me I had done more to create good will than any other part of the exercise." (Featured in June 1985 RAM)
