Fighter Wing welcomes home Airmen from South Korea TSP
Approximately 270 Airmen from the Madison-based 115th Fighter Wing returned to Truax Field Nov. 8 after a three-month deployment to Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea. Maj. Gen. Donald Dunbar, Wisconsin's adjutant general, Col. Erik Peterson, 115th Fighter Wing Commander, and senior Wisconsin Air National Guard leaders welcomed home the Airmen at a ceremony at Truax. "Airmen of the 176th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, from the moment you arrived at Kunsan Air Base, your outstanding performance, attitude, and effort resulted in immediate positive impacts," said 115th Fighter Wing Commander Col. Erik Peterson. "Our experienced cadre of pilots immediately set to work instructing numerous inexperienced active component pilots and reducing a tremendous backlog of upgrades both at Kunsan and Osan air bases, while our maintainers similarly demonstrated their experience while improving maintenance processes and repairs."

Monument movement provides quality training for National Guard Airmen
A monument dedicated to the farm youth of Wisconsin who have served their country in the defense of freedom, found a new resting place with help from the Airmen of the 115th Fighter Wing Civil Engineering Squadron and Urban Search and Rescue team based out of Truax Field, Madison, Wisconsin. The 18 Airmen invested approximately 60-75 hours into the movement Oct. 14, with many more hours invested behind the scenes with planning and coordination between the 115th FW’s CES, Fire and Emergency Services Flight, and USAR team along with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, and Wisconsin Department of Administration, Bureau of Real Estate Management.

Deployed 115th FW Airmen train like they fight
As trained members of the United States Air National Guard, we all want to believe that we train like we fight, but what does that really mean? The Airmen of Madison Wisconsin’s 115th Fighter Wing take the statement, “train like you fight” and exemplify it daily. To them it means to be trained and ready, to be prepared for anything, to complete tasks in a timely manner, while following proper technical data, and to do a quality job, while training up young Airmen to do their jobs skillfully as well.

Air National Guard Restores FAA Capabilities for Puerto Rico
A week and a half post hurricane Maria, it is hard to tell the Federal Aviation Administration was at “ground zero” and in the dark with no power or communications capabilities. Now, the air traffic flow at San Juan Luis Munoz Marin International Airport is back to normal thanks to the relationship between the Air National Guard stepped in to help the FAA and restore air operations for the island.

Kunsan hosts Wisconsin Governor, adjutant general
The Honorable Scott Walker, Governor of Wisconsin, and U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Donald Dunbar, Wisconsin’s adjutant general, visited Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea, September 16, 2017, to show support for the Wisconsin Air National Guard’s 115th Fighter Wing Airmen who are currently deployed to Kunsan.

176th Fighter Squadron begins arrival at Kunsan
The 176th started a four-month rotation at Kunsan as a part of a U.S. Pacific Air Forces’ Theater Security Package deployment, which serves as a means to ensure continued commitment to U.S. allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.

Wisconsin Airmen to deploy in support of U.S. Pacific Command
Airmen and aircraft from the 115th Fighter Wing in Madison, Wisconsin are set to deploy on a four month rotation to Kunsan Air Base, Korea in support of U.S. Pacific Command’s Theater Security Package. The Airmen and aircraft are set to arrive at Kunsan AB in early August.

Wisconsin Air National Guard 176th Fighter Squadron prepares for Kunsan deployment
Approximately, 200 Airmen and 12 F-16 Fighting Falcons from the 176th Fighter Squadron, Wisconsin Air National Guard are set to deploy to Kunsan Air Base, Korea for a 4-month rotation. The aircraft and personnel are scheduled to arrive at Kunsan in August.

Services Airmen provide meals during Northern Lightning
Approximately 40 services Airmen and Soldiers from across the nation flew in for the 2017 Northern Lightning Exercise at Volk Field Air National Guard Base, Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, to provide hot meals for the more than 6,500 participants April 27-May 12.
