The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Wisconsin ANG change of command

John McCoy (right) during the change of command ceremony February 29, 2008. Colonel McCoy was the state director of staff prior to his appointment to the deputy adjutant general position. During the same ceremony, Brig. Gen. Mark Anderson took command of the Wisconsin Army National Guard from outgoing DAG-Army Brig. Gen. James Krueck. General Gerald Olesen bids a fond farewell to the Wisconsin Air National Guard after more than 40 years of service, 36 of which were with the Wisconsin Air National Guard.  Colonel McCoy accepted command of the WI ANG and greeted the Airmen and Soldiers at the change of command ceremony. Colonel McCoy is a 29-year military veteran and has spent the last 24 years in the WI ANG. As part of his new assignment, Colonel McCoy will be promoted to brigadier general.
